1)Why do you want to be an ABC rep?

As mysecond year at Columbia comes to an end, I have realized that I inadvertentlybecome heavily involved with the Korean Students Association. Although I haveno complaints about this, I came to this school as a first-year planning to getinvolved with so many different organizations and meeting new people, and Idid, for the first few months at least. However, lately IÕve been hoping toget involved with something else as well. As an ABC rep, I would actually havemore of an impact on the entire student body rather than a targeted audience(for instance, KSA events generally cater towards the Korean community). My experiencewith various different clubs/planning committees lets me have a sense of campuslife and on-campus events giving me a valid opinion on how to better serve theABC groups that do so much for our student body.

2)As an ABC Rep, which groups would you be most interested in representing?Explain your interest in those groups as well as any prior experience withthose groups or other related qualifications.

Iam most familiar with the cultural groups (mainly Asian), as I am involved withthe Korean Students Association, and have attended many of the events put on bycultural groups. However, it seems that the cultural groups hold the largestevents on campus and so are better known than other groups. I would beinterested in representing pre-professional or academic groups whichpotentially could have the biggest effect on individual students.

3) Namesome changes that you believe would positively impact ABC?

-improve policies on Lerner space usage. Many student groups have troublefinding spaces to rehearse for shows, or hold meetings and end up stressfullysearching for spaces while reserved rooms remain unused.

-a general body meeting in late September, during which representatives fromstudent groups can become familiar with ABC policies, meet their advisor, etc.

4)Name 1-3 policy initiatives that you think ABC should pursue next year.

-more Lerner space available to student groups
