Sources of Funding on Campus

Student Council Co-Sponsorships

If you need additional funding for a new event, apply to the councils for a co-sponsorship. The councils will NOT be giving co-sponsorships for recurring events; appeal to ABC for funding for a recurring event.

Gatsby Fund

The Gatbsy Charitable Fund supports student-led arts-related programming at Columbia. The guiding spirit of the Fund is to inspire the creation of new student artwork and student arts endeavors.

The deadline for Fall 2010 applications is Tuesday, October 12. The Spring 2011 deadline is Friday, February 11.

President and Provost’s Fund

The President’s and Provost’s Student Event Fund is available to all recognized Columbia University Student Groups. The Fund provides financial support to events which benefit the University community through collaboration and creative programming on campus.

The deadline for Fall 2010 applications is Friday, October 8, 5:00pm. The application is available here.

Eligibility:

  • The initiative must occur during the eligibility period.
  • The initiative should be organized and hosted by a recognized Student Group(s) in good standing with the university.
  • The initiative should be held on campus (Morningside or Medical Center).
  • The initiative should be advertised and open to the University community.
  • The initiative may be artistic, cultural, educational, or social.
  • Funds awarded may only be applied to event as described on application.

The Office of the University Chaplain Co-Sponsorship Fund

The Office of the University Chaplain Co-Sponsorship Fund is available to recognized Columbia University undergraduate, graduate, and professional student groups whose programs explore issues of religion, spirituality, race, ethnicity, sexual identity, gender, social justice or community service. First time innovative programs are especially encouraged. Email commonmeal@columbia.edu for more information.

The Kraft Family Fund for Intercultural and Interfaith Awareness

The Kraft Family Fund for Intercultural and Interfaith Awareness supports collaborative efforts between two or more recognized student groups at Columbia University to promote intercultural and interfaith understanding on campus during the academic year. Student Groups

Consult with other student organizations recognized by the University to find groups that may be interested in organizing and co-sponsoring an event with you. For a list of organizations and websites, you can go to the website of each governing board or visit the "Our Clubs" section of our website.

Corporate Sponsorships

Student groups may seek appropriate sponsorship, advertising revenue, or the donation of products to help finance events and activities.
