Allocation Reform
ABC will be doing allocations differently this year. In past years, the process has been arduous and arbitrary, so we've tried to make the new process easier and more holistic. For a detailed description of the new process, visit our By-Laws. Here's how it will work:
1. By March 25, you'll fill out a survey and a budget for next year, detailing total costs and revenues for each event.
2. You'll also meet with your rep to explain any extraordinary circumstances concerning your group's account, your plans for next year, and, if you're asking for an allocation increase, why you need more funding.
3. Your rep will make a recommendation for a percentage increase or decrease for each of his or her groups, and the ABC board will discuss and vote on each recommendation.
4. ABC will aggregate all the final recommendations and submit them to the councils, which will decide on governing board allocations at F@CU.
5. Over the summer, ABC will contact you regarding your group's allocation.
Culture Show Cap Eliminated
ABC has voted to eliminate the culture show cap of $2500. Effective immediately, groups will be able to spend more than $2500 out of allocation on a culture show (as long as you have the funds).
Student Group Resources
The Community Development offics have created a new online hub of information for student groups, located here: http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/comdev/groupres! There are all sorts of valuable information that will help your group with programming, so if you ever need a form or information on how to do almost anything related to putting on an event, check here.
